Whisky event at the Scheibel Whisky Mill: an evening full of enjoyment, history and casino atmosphere

Kappelrodeck, November 15, 2024 - On Saturday, November 9, the Scheibel Whisky Mill in Kappelrodeck was transformed into an elegant event location under the motto "Casino". Guests were treated to an evening full of enjoyment, encounters and exceptional whisky products. In the historic ambience of the mill, attendees celebrated the premiere of the new EMILL Zeitwerk whisky and enjoyed the casino atmosphere with gaming tables and professional croupiers.

Family tradition meets modern whisky art

The event was opened by owner Martina Scheibel, who warmly welcomed the guests as the granddaughter of the company founder and paid tribute to her family's long tradition of distilling. With a twinkle in her eye, she told an anecdote about her grandfather Emil Scheibel, who was known for his sense of humor: After Emil had treated himself to a new car, his wife Ella suggested driving to the casino in Baden-Baden. Emil agreed, but when Ella stepped outside the door in elegant attire, a team of oxen awaited her instead of a car. To Ella's surprised question, "Emil, it's not dinner Ernscht", he simply replied, "Yes - with this or no one." Ella then climbed onto the ox cart with dignity and elegance and drove to the casino with Emil - a story that, as Martina Scheibel emphasized, was perfectly in keeping with the evening's theme.

Martina Scheibel then emphasized the importance of the whisky mill as a place where tradition and innovation go hand in hand. "Ten years have passed since we distilled our first drop of whisky with passion and a spirit of discovery - the beginning of a journey full of surprises and bold decisions," she explained, thanking the employees who are at the heart of the company. "Tonight, blue stands for consistency, calm and depth - qualities that also characterize our whisky and make the mill a symbol of solidarity," she added, looking at the guests.

In his speech, Managing Director Raphael Sackmann took the audience through the development of the whisky mill and recalled Michael Scheibel's vision in 2012 of transforming the old flour mill into a whisky distillery . "The decision to revitalize this historic site took courage and foresight, and we are proud of what has been created here since then," he explained, highlighting in particular the advances in product development, innovative barrel management and the special maturation conditions that give EMILL whiskies their distinctive character.

EMILL Zeitwerk - a new highlight in the whisky family

The employees entered with the EMILL products before head distiller Frank Blechschmidt presented the new EMILL Zeitwerk whisky, matured over 9 years with a cherry-brandy finish. The special cask maturation gives Zeitwerk its unique aroma and a complex variety of flavors. The new creation was toasted together and received with enthusiasm by the guests.

This was followed by the opening of the casino game, where guests were able to have fun at three gaming tables and enjoy the special atmosphere. Exquisite catering from Zuckerbergschloss in Kappelrodeck rounded off the evening with culinary delights and offered the opportunity to talk to the Scheibel distillery staff and sample EMILL products in a relaxed atmosphere.

Since its opening in July 2018, the Scheibel Whisky Mill has undergone remarkable development. The first products, EMILL Kraftwerk and Stockwerk, quickly made a name for themselves. In its very first year, the single malt Kraftwerk won a gold medal as "Germany's Best Whisky" at the whisky trade fair in Frankfurt. The mill added new, creative products to its range with the EMILL Feinwerk editions (port wine cask, 2021) and the Engelswerk whisky liqueur (2022). Feinwerk also received a gold medal at the Meiningers International Spirits Award (ISW) in 2024.

Limited special editions

Scheibel Whisky-Mühle also sets standards in the area of limited editions. In 2023, the EMILL Fasswerk was launched, a 7-year-old single cask whisky with a finish in a gold apricot cask. This was followed in April 2024 by the EMILL Spielwerk - a limited vintage edition, also matured for 7 years and with an annually changing finish, refined in an apricot cask in 2024. Further editions are already being planned. With a maximum of 300 barrels, the capacity is deliberately limited - this exclusivity and craftsmanship are part of EMILL's DNA and highlight the whisky products as handcrafted products.

A special highlight of the evening was the opportunity for guests to reserve their personal favorite number of the limited EMILL Zeitwerk Edition on site - a privilege that was only offered on this evening. In the Louis Lounge, pleasure ambassador Michaela Dupont offered a fascinating insight into the world of whisky flavors with her aroma bar. With lively conversations, a unique atmosphere and a mixture of tradition and innovation, the event proved to be a worthy anniversary and an impressive celebration of the EMILL brand.
